Mrs President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Denmark,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
You kindly invited us, the representatives of countries friends with the Kingdom of Denmark, to take part in the solemn 2017 New Year’s celebration here at Folketinget.
On this occasion, I have the honour to express on behalf of my colleagues, the Heads of Diplomatic Missions, our sincere thanks and gratitude for this invitation and for your cordial welcome.
I am honoured to wish you at the beginning of 2017 a very happy and prosperous new year for yourself and your family.
Our thanks and best wishes extend to the Members of the Parliament. The year 2016 is now behind us. However, we would like to congratulate you for the Danish Parliament’s creation of the bravery award that honours a civilian who has demonstrated extraordinary action at the risk of his own life in an attempt to protect and save the lives of others. This award has been given to two Danes – Finn Nørgaard and Dan Uzan, who showed their bravery on February 14th 2015.
Mrs President, it is always pleasant to recall that diplomacy is the art of peace placed at the service of true brotherhood among all peoples. Human progress, sustainable development, as well as economic and social advances can never be separated from peace. It is on this basis that the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Kingdom of Denmark welcomes the strong cooperation with the Danish parliamentarians to accomplish the noble ambitions of:
- Human progress;
- Sustainable development;
- Economic and social advances;
Within a climate of peace and worthy relations.
May 2017 strengthen the good cooperation between the Embassies accredited to the Kingdom of Denmark and the Danish parliamentarians.
To conclude, on behalf of my colleagues of the diplomatic corps, I would like to express to you and the entire Danish Parliament, our wishes for the continued success of your mission at the head of the Danish National Assembly and the success of all parliamentary projects.
